Fines & Renewals

We no longer charge OVERDUE fines for library materials that are returned within 28 days of the due date. After 28 days, items are considered LOST, and we will charge you the replacement cost.

Fine/Fee limit:  Once you have reached $10.00 or more on your library card (damaged items, LOST items, fines on items from other libraries that are not Fine Free), or accumulate $10.00 on the same household members' cards, all cards at your address will be unable to check out materials until the fees are paid in full.

Why?  Putting a cap on the owed amount keeps fees manageable and including others living in the same household prevents misuse of someone else's card to avoid paying fines.

How to pay: Fines and fees can be paid via your credit/debit card at the library, by paying cash or check, or by logging into your library account at www.linkcat.info and paying via credit/debit card.

Renewing Items

To renew items: There are many ways to renew your library materials.

Call us at 608-655-3123.

Log in to your LINKcat account and renew online.

Call TeleCirc at 608-242-4700.

Finally, you can stop into the library and renew items without your card.

Logging into your LINKcat account:

Click here, or select the link on the main page. In the upper right hand corner, click on "Log in to your account." Use the barcode on the back of your library code (with no spaces) and your four-digit PIN to log in. Your PIN should be the month and day of your birth. Example: April 2nd = PIN 0402. If your barcode or PIN are not recognized, your card may be expired or your PIN may need to be reset. Please contact library staff.

Your LINKcat account keeps track of what you have currently checked out, when it is due, the fines you have, etc. You can renew books, order books, suspend your holds and more from your LINKcat account. If you are having trouble renewing an item, it may be a new item, on hold for another patron, or you may have reached the maximum renewal limit.

Damaged items: Patrons will be held responsible for damage that is above normal wear and tear. Damages may range from a few dollars up to the replacement cost of the item. DO review materials for overt damage or missing parts before leaving the library, and have a staff member make a note of it.

Lost or Ruined Items: The full replacement price will be charged for any items that are never returned or returned with damage beyond repair. This replacement price is determined by library staff, and is not necessarily based on current prices at bookstores or online. While we do not wish to assess punitive damages, replacing a library item involves significant staff time and materials. There are no refunds for lost or damaged and paid for library materials. (effective 4/19/2021)

Fines from Other Libraries:
Items you borrow from other libraries MAY HAVE DIFFERENT CHECKOUT PERIODS.  Other libraries may have different Lost/ Damaged fees, may not accept "Claims Returned" reports and may assess damage based on their own criteria.  Review your receipt each time you check out.
