About the Friends

The Friends of the Library volunteer group has for decades been vital to the library. If not for the hard work of our Friends, we would not be here today. The Friends fundraising and advocacy allowed us to put up a new library building in 2002, have given us much-needed furniture and equipment, funded fantastic programs for the public, and brought new faces through our doors. Please, consider joining!

If you would like to join us, the 2021 meetings are held at the library on the second Thursday of every other month at 6:00 pm March 11, *May 13, July 8, September 9, November 11.  May 13th is the annual meeting.
Membership dues are: Individual $5   Family $10    Business $25

The Friends hold five major fundraising events every year. Volunteers are very welcome at:

Book Sale @ the library - (Usually, The second week in May.) In 2021, Thursday, June 10, is a special Friends' "members only" preview sale from 3-6pm.  Friday, June 11, 2021, the book sale is open to the public 8am-1pm. Saturday, June 12, 2021, the book sale is open to the public 8am-3pm. Volunteers are needed to haul in and set up thousands of books in the weeks before the book sale. The Village Wide Garage Sale Day is (usually) held on the same Saturday as our Book Sale.  In 2021, the Marshall Village Wide Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, June 12. The Friends sponsor the Garage Sale Day by coordinating the sale map listings and fees, and placing ads on social media and in the local newspaper.  More information is found on the library Home page.


Dog Wash  - THE FRIENDS' DOG WASH IS STILL TO BE DETERMINED. LET'S ALL HOPE WE CAN GET OUR STINKY PUPS WASHED IN 2021! Usually the second Saturday in July. 10am-2pm. Volunteers are needed for dog bathing and drying, cashier, picture taking, and the bandana booth.

Trivia - 2021 DATE TO BE DETERMINED. Usually the second Saturday in October. 7-11pm. Volunteers are needed to make snacks for sale, act as cashiers, sell raffle tickets, set up, and clean up.


Bake Sale - 2021 DATE TO BE DETERMINED. Usually the second Saturday in December. 8am-2pm. Volunteers are needed to donate baked goods, price donations, act as cashier, and clean up. 

The Friends have also done Gala events (such as wine tastings), indoor mini golf, and volunteer appreciation banquets. If you want to help, let us know!
